2017 Annual Meeting of the Center for French Colonial Studies

The Center for French Colonial Studies annual meeting will be held at 杏吧原创鈥橲 Archaeology Museum and the Hampton Inn & Suites-Providence Park.
On Friday, Oct. 6, join a bus tour to the archaeological site of the original 1702 Mobile settlement, and, after lunch, the LaPointe-Krebs House and Museum in Pascagoula, oldest standing French home on the Gulf Coast,. A reception will be held Friday evening at the Archaeology Museum.
Speakers for Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Hampton Inn-Providence Park include Ashley Dumas on Fort Tombecb茅; Greg Waselkov on archaeology at Old Mobile, Port Dauphin, and French plantations on Mobile Bay; Virginia Gould on Gentilly, from the Dreux brothers to Ste. Geme; and Carl Ekberg on 鈥淭wo French Marines from the Ardennes,鈥 among other renowned scholars.
The Saturday evening reception and dinner at the Hampton Inn-Providence Park will feature a keynote address by Dr. Erin Greenwald, New Orleans Museum of Art/Historic New Orleans Collection, about the new exhibit 鈥淣ew Orleans: The Founding Era.鈥
On Sunday, Ashley Dumas will offer an optional tour of the Fort Tombecb茅 archaeological site, atop a picturesque high chalk bluff overlooking the Tombigbee River.
