DayZero Participates in ITEN WIRED Cyber Competition
Posted on October 8, 2019 by Spencer Radford
School of Computing students that are part of USA鈥檚 DayZero cyber competition club recently participated in the ITEN WIRED Summit鈥檚 4th annual Cybersecurity Competition in Pensacola, FL. The competition pitted around 30 students from colleges, universities, and cyber workforce academies around the Gulf coast area in a capture-the-flag (CTF) and Jeopardy-style knowledge game centered around cybersecurity. The competition was hosted on the Florida Cyber Range and allowed teams of up to 5 student to combine red team and blue team strategies to defend a simulated network while attempting to break into the networks of other competing teams. The USA team came in 3rd place this year and the competition provided a great learning opportunity for our students. SoC students participating in the event included, pictured (l to r): James Tackett, Jeremy Martin, Steven Mauseth, Jonathan Brooks, and Quynh Le.
DayZero is a USA student organization dedicated to furthering cybersecurity knowledge and skills through participation in regional and international cyber competitions and capture the flag events. For more information about the club, see /colleges/soc/dayzero.html.
